Flippin Police Department implements Cyber Crimes Investigative Division

                                                      PRESS RELEASE

The Flippin Police Department has implemented a new cyber crimes investigative division. The Department recognizes the number of sexual predators in chat rooms on the Internet each day as well as the number of children who are victimized daily by these predators. The Department feels that the new program will help protect children in the community. Two officers at the Department will be assigned to the division as well as maintain their current job duties and responsibilities.

The Department received a $1000.00 donation from a citizen in the community for the program. The citizen donated the money out of concern for children in the area, especially noting the citizen’s grandchildren (picture attached) with the officers assigned to the program. With the donation the two officers assigned to the Cyber Crimes division were able to attend, Cyber Crimes -The Investigative Response, a three and a half day training regarding cyber sexual predators that included instruction regarding techniques, securing electronic evidence, and legal considerations for successful prosecution.

The Department began cyber crimes investigations less than one week ago. The Department has already arrested two suspects as well as opened cases on a number of other suspects.
