Flippin Resident arrested on Felony Battery

On 7/1/14 Zachary Summers, age 20, of Flippin was arrested and charged with Battery in the First Degree, a Class Y Felony and Minor in Possession of Alcohol a Misdemeanor.

The arrest comes after Flippin Police received a call at approximately 5:00 AM regarding a 3 year old female who had signs of physical abuse. Officers began an investigation and learned that the child had multiple bruises on her face, neck, back, and shoulders and that the injuries were sustained earlier in the night. Officers conducted a number of interviews and searched the residence where the incident occurred in Flippin. During the course of the investigation officers located evidence that Summers was responsible for assaulting the child. It appears from the investigation that alcohol was a factor in the incident.

Bond for Summers was set at $50,000. He remains in the Marion County Jail awaiting an appearance in Marion County Circuit Court. The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division assisted with the investigation.
