Flippin resident arrested on Felony Drug Charges

PRESS RELEASE

On 11-19-12 Kenneth Powell, age 51, of Flippin was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Purpose to Deliver, a Class A Felony, Delivery of Controlled Substance Methamphetamine, a Class Y Felony,  Delivery of Controlled Substance Methamphetamine, a Class B Felony (two counts), Delivery of a Controlled Substance Schedule II (Methadone), a Class C Felony, Unlawful Use of a Communication Device, a Class C Felony and Enhanced Penalties for  Distribution of narcotics near Certain Facilities.

The arrest comes from a two month joint investigation by the Flippin Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office. During the course of the investigation undercover officers purchased approximately $3,000.00 worth of Methamphetamine from Powell during several controlled buys. On 11-19-12 Officers from each Department executed a search warrant at Powell’s residence. During the course of that search warrant, the Flippin Police Department K9 “Dax”, alerted in the bedroom area of the residence resulting in officers locating an additional amount of methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $10,000. During the course of the investigation officers identified a number of additional suspects involved in the operation and more arrests are anticipated. The Mountain Home Police Department, Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, and 14th Judicial Drug Task Force assisted with the investigation.

Powell was on bond at the time of this arrest from a 9/28/12 drug related arrest by the Flippin Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Bond for Powell on the new charges was set at $50,000.00. Powell remains incarcerated pending appearance in Marion County Circuit Court at the time of the press release.
