On Friday, November 18th, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to a down power line in the area of the Yellville Industrial Park. A Deputy responded to the call but was unable to locate any down power lines. The Deputy continued travelling on highway 202 toward Summit. As he approached South Oak street in Summit, he encountered an individual running towards him waving his arms in an effort to stop the Deputy. He advised the Deputy that there was a down power line and a person lying in the ditch on the opposite side of the road. An ambulance and first responders were dispatched to the scene. In addition Entergy was contacted and immediately made their way to the scene. Once the scene was deemed safe for emergency personnel, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marion County Coroner.
The victim was later identified as 36-year old Michael Paul Wood of Summit. The investigation into the incident is still on-going.
