Stolen Vehicle recovered in Flippin

PRESS RELEASE

On 7/25/2012 while on patrol a Flippin Police Officer was flagged down by a citizen at a local apartment complex who need assistance getting their vehicle out of a parking lot because the vehicle next to them was parked too close. The officer assisted the citizen and attempted to locate the owner of the other vehicle. The officer was unsuccessful in locating the owner. Within the hour a Be On the Look Out bulletin was issued to local law enforcement regarding a stolen vehicle from Baxter County. Marion County Dispatch contacted the Flippin officer and advised the BOLO matched the license plate the officer had previously ran through Dispatch at the apartment complex.

Flippin officers responded and the vehicle was in the same parking space. Officers confirmed by vehicle identification number that this vehicle was in fact the one reported stolen earlier in the day in Baxter County that resulted in the issued BOLO.  Officers contacted the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office and Investigators from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office responded to process the vehicle for fingerprints.

There is an active investigation regarding the theft of the vehicle. The vehicle has been returned to the owner. The vehicle is a 1999 Chevrolet Z71 extended cab truck and was stolen during the night of 7/24/12 in the area of County Road 1123 in Gassville. Anyone with information regarding the theft of the truck is encouraged to contact the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office at 870-425-7000.
