Yellville resident arrested on Felony Drug Charges

On 7/11/2012 Kelly Harvey, age 48, of Yellville was arrested and charged with Criminal Attempt to Obtain a Prescription by Fraud, a Class D Felony, Conspiracy to Deliver Methamphetamine, a Class C Felony, Conspiracy to Possess Hydrocodone, a Class D Felony, and Unlawful Use of a Communication Device, a Class C Felony. Related to the arrest officers charged Amber Rice, age 27, of Scott Arkansas with Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance (Xanax), a Class A Misdemeanor.

The arrest comes after Flippin Police learned that Harvey was attempting to trade methamphetamine for Hydrocodone pills. Officers also learned that Harvey was attempting to obtain a DEA number in order to forge a prescription. Officers learned that Harvey was in a local business in Flippin. After conducting surveillance officers learned that Harvey had obtained the fake DEA number and intended to provide it to another subject who would in turn forge a prescription. Officers also learned that Harvey was going to attempt to locate methamphetamine to trade for Hydrocodone pills after she left the business. Flippin officers conducted a traffic stop on Harvey after she left the business. Harvey was arrested without incident and transported to the Marion County Jail. During the course of the investigation officers located and seized the bogus DEA number. During the course of the traffic stop officers also located an amount of Xanax pills on Rice who was a passenger in the vehicle.

The investigation is continuing and other parties involved have been identified. More arrests regarding the investigation are expected. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation and arrest.
